Educated in State School and served a Royal Air Force apprenticeship at RAF Halton as an Aircraft Electrical Engineer.  Aviation based career in UK and abroad mainly with British Airways.  Became a flight engineer and eventually becoming a senior training flight engineer with British Airways, retiring in 1997.  During this time was an elected member of the National Executive Council of the British Airline Pilots Association.  On retiring participated in setting up a new British 747 Freight Airline called Air Freight Express, now retired.
