Wokingham Independents
Jim Frewin
I have lived all of my life in and around the Shinfield area. Married for 40 years and counting with 2 grown up children. I enjoyed a long a varied career in telecommunications and IT projection in a wide range of roles, with recent years being spent in delivering significant projects and trying to deliver culture change across multiple Government Departments. Due to an unfortunate cancer challenge (hopefully beaten) I retired in 2017
This gave me the opportunity to further contribute to my community by volunteering to assist 2 of our emergency services and to get involved in trying to protect our local Villages from even further development. I also drive wedding cars for a local company which is great fun. As s result of our residents ENOUGH is ENOUGH activity I was asked to stand as a Borough Councillor. I hope this will enable me to contribute more to the community. I will do this as an Independent Councillor and speak for the residents free of any party constraints.
Along with my wife we have been active in raising fund for Macmillan Cancer for over 30 years which included 10 years of the Shinfield fetes on the green. We have been honoured to be given life membership of Macmillan in recognition of this effort. Sport has always been a passion and this included playing for Shinfield cricket team for a number of years. I have an intermediate FA coaching badge and achieved my black belt in Karate at the age of 60
